Mission Rowing Shells
Here at Hatchets, we use Mission Rowing Shells as our number one choice in lessons for all open water/recreational shells. They are lightweight, well constructed, high performance, and locally built. Hatchets Rowing Centre has been running rowing lessons since 2009, and our coaches have been at it since 1994. Jeff Hill, owner and operator of Mission Rowing, builds the boats locally right here in Tavistock, Ontario. His focus is building technically advanced, high performance open water rowing shells that will fit every ability of rower.
One of the main reasons we use Mission Rowing Shells is that not only are they lightweight, high strength and versatile shells - but they also row beautifully and have the correct dimension setup for rigging - similar to a flatwater racing shell. In all the shells we tried during the initial years with Hatchets, we struggled to find open water (more stable) rowing shells that actually allow the same full rowing stroke because of the dimensional setup of the rigging. We would feel crunched up, with the feet too high in most open water shells on the market today, it does not allow you to come all the way up to the catch. After testing out a large number boat boats available today, we happily discovered and switched over to Mission Rowing Shells which allowed for the best comfort and performance of our rowers. And so….we bring them to you!
